Pet relocation & travel preparation in Dubai

Moving your pet should feel like a coordinated journey, not a stack of unfamiliar forms. Kings coordinates the complicated veterinary checks, rabies titre testing where required, destination declarations and travel paperwork around your route. We guide the sequence and help keep tasks connected, so you can focus on your move while the necessary preparations are brought together.

The Kings approach

How Kings takes the complexity out of pet relocation

A route-specific plan from the start

We work through the destination, travel date, pet records and proposed route to identify the checks and documents involved. The aim is a coordinated checklist with clear responsibilities, rather than leaving you to discover missing requirements close to departure.

Help with the complicated paperwork

We coordinate required testing, special declarations and certificate preparations, checking how each task fits the journey. Government issuance, airline acceptance and entry approval remain with the relevant authorities, but you do not have to navigate the preparation without support.

Clear scope and fewer assumptions

We explain the planned coordination, relevant deadlines and estimate, including which transport or destination arrangements involve partners or separate charges. You can see what is being handled and what information or approval is still needed from you before committing.

What to expect

Share the departure country, destination, proposed travel date, transit stops and your pet’s documents. We review the clinical preparation and help build a checklist with responsibilities and dates. Ask for a written service scope showing which appointments and document assistance Kings provides, which logistics are arranged through a transport partner, and what the owner, airline and authorities must complete.

One coordinated checklist for your pet’s journey

Begin with a travel consultation and document review. We can help organise the clinical tasks, explain the paperwork to obtain and identify the deadlines that connect them. For transport and handling, we discuss the arrangements required for the route and confirm any partner involvement in writing. A complete plan identifies the owner of each task so a veterinary appointment, airline booking or authority endorsement is not left to assumption.

Microchip, vaccines and travel blood tests

A readable microchip and a consistent identity record are central to many travel routes. Some destinations require the chip to be read or implanted before the relevant rabies vaccination. A rabies antibody titre is required for some routes and circumstances, with specified sampling dates, approved laboratories and waiting periods. It is not the same as a rabies vaccination. The plan must follow the destination’s current instructions and your pet’s documented history.

Health certificates, permits and official endorsement

A vaccination booklet or pet passport is not automatically sufficient for every border. Travel may require a destination-specific health certificate, an import permit, an export certificate and official endorsement. Kings can assist with clinical records, examinations and supporting paperwork within the agreed scope. Government-issued permits and official export certificates remain subject to the competent authority’s checks and approval; a routine clinic letter does not replace them.

Airline, crate and welfare planning

Confirm the airline’s current acceptance rules for the species, breed, age, health, route, crate and season before booking. Crate sizing and construction must meet the applicable airline and live-animal transport requirements. IATA does not approve commercial crates, so an “IATA approved” sales label alone is not proof of acceptance. Acclimatisation and a veterinary travel assessment help planning; do not give sedatives for a flight unless specifically advised by the veterinarian and accepted by the carrier.

Destination checks: UAE, Great Britain, Europe and Australia

For entry to the UAE, check MOCCAE’s current import-permit, identification, vaccination and origin-dependent testing requirements. Great Britain and the European Union have their own travel documents and entry rules, while Australia requires a detailed country-specific import pathway and may involve quarantine arrangements. Tell us where your pet has lived as well as where it departs. Transit, ownership changes and the timing of the owner’s journey can also change which rules apply.

Birds, reptiles and other exotic pets

An exotic pet cannot automatically use the dog-and-cat travel pathway. Species identification, legal ownership, destination acceptance, veterinary certificates and wildlife permissions may all need separate checks. Many parrots and some tortoises or reptiles are covered by CITES. Send the scientific species name and existing ownership or permit documents early so the relevant national authorities and carrier can confirm the lawful route.

Build a route plan before choosing a flight

A direct journey and a journey with an overnight stop are not necessarily the same project. Tell us every country your pet will pass through, whether it will leave the airport, and who will receive it. We also need your own travel dates: a pet travelling separately from its owner can fall under different entry arrangements. We turn that information into a working plan rather than treating the destination name as the whole itinerary.

A document check that follows your pet’s identity

Send complete, readable pages rather than cropped vaccination stickers. We compare the microchip number across vaccination entries, laboratory reports and proposed certificates, and flag missing signatures, dates or identity details for correction by the appropriate issuer. Tell us about a previous chip, an unreadable chip or any gap in vaccination history. Do not alter a record yourself. Finding a mismatch before a sample is taken or a certificate is issued is much easier than discovering it at check-in.

Special declarations are part of the plan

Some journeys need more than a health certificate. An owner declaration may confirm that the move is not a sale or transfer of ownership; written authorisation may be needed when another person accompanies the pet. Other routes can require additional attestations or destination forms. Kings helps identify the relevant documents and explains what you must sign or supply. We check the applicable route and current form rather than assuming a declaration prepared for a previous move can be reused.

Keep the testing calendar separate from the flight calendar

A titre report is not a ticket to travel immediately. Where testing is required, the qualifying vaccine, sample date, laboratory acceptance, result and any waiting period must all align. Some rules measure a deadline against arrival; others against certificate issue. We explain which event each deadline refers to and keep the original report with the travel file. A successful historic test may still be useful, but only after its identity and the continuity of subsequent rabies vaccination have been checked.

Know what happens at the handover

Before departure, agree who holds the original documents, who is responsible for check-in and who the receiving contact is. Keep one current itinerary and an accessible copy of the completed document pack. Ask which charges are already included and which are payable to the airline, authority or destination provider. After landing, release may involve document and identity checks rather than immediate collection. We help you prepare for these handovers so the next step is clear, without promising a fixed clearance time.

Before your appointment

Send clear copies of the vaccination record, microchip details, previous rabies blood-test results and any existing travel documents. Include species, breed, date of birth, current medicines and the owner’s travel plan. Start before buying non-refundable pet transport: required vaccination sequences, laboratory tests, waiting periods and permit processing can affect the earliest possible departure.

After your visit

Before departure, check that the pet’s microchip number and owner details agree across the final documents. Keep originals and copies available for the airline and arrival checks. After arrival, follow any entry, quarantine or local registration instructions, arrange ongoing veterinary care and plan for return-entry requirements if the move is temporary.

Costs & what to ask

A route-specific estimate may include consultations, microchipping, vaccines, sample collection, laboratory fees, parasite treatment, document coordination and official charges. Crate, airline or cargo charges, local transport, customs assistance, quarantine and destination handling may be separate or partner-provided. Ask what is included, who invoices each item and what happens if dates or requirements change.

Contact your chosen branch for current pricing and availability. Ask what is included in your estimate before confirming treatment.

Your questions, answered

Can Kings handle everything for my pet’s relocation?

Yes—Kings coordinates the complicated veterinary preparation and travel-paperwork steps, including required testing and destination-specific declarations, so you do not have to work through the checklist alone. We agree a clear plan, organise the relevant appointments and document checks, and explain what we need from you. Your written scope identifies any transport or destination partner involvement. Airlines and authorities still control acceptance, official approvals, quarantine and release; we manage preparation and coordination without guaranteeing those decisions.

What paperwork do I need to relocate a cat or dog from Dubai?

The exact list depends on the destination and journey. Common documents include a microchip-linked vaccination record, any required rabies laboratory report, the destination’s health-certificate form, an import permit where required, UAE export health documentation and owner or authorised-person details. A pet passport may help document history but is not a universal travel authorisation. Send your existing records so missing items can be identified before appointments are timed.

Does every pet need a rabies titre test for travel?

No. The requirement depends on the destination, departure and residence history, transit and vaccination record. When required, the test must follow the authority’s rules for sampling, laboratory acceptance, antibody result and waiting period. We can review which clinical steps and laboratory arrangements are needed for the proposed route. Do not book travel based only on a general online testing timeline.

How early should I start planning?

Contact Kings as soon as you know the destination, even if the moving date is tentative. Some routes can be prepared relatively quickly when records are already compliant; others require months because of testing, waiting periods, quarantine bookings or permit conditions. We work backwards from the authority’s current rules and your pet’s history to identify a realistic preparation sequence. A travel date is provisional until the necessary conditions and carrier arrangements are confirmed.

Can Kings issue the official UAE export certificate?

We can assist with the clinical preparation and supporting records within your agreed service scope. MOCCAE’s official export health-certificate process includes authority review and any required inspection or tests. The issuing authority decides whether its requirements are met and issues or endorses official documents. Ask the team which appointment, application and authority steps are required for your pet rather than treating a routine clinic certificate as the final export permission.

What do I need when bringing my pet into the UAE?

A prior MOCCAE import permit is part of the current cat-and-dog entry pathway. The pet’s permanent microchip must match the accompanying health and vaccination documents. Vaccination, age, preventive treatments and rabies blood-test requirements depend on the official conditions and origin history. Send the departure country and records for a current checklist; official inspection and release take place through the relevant authority on arrival.

Can my pet travel in the cabin, and which crate should I buy?

Cabin, accompanied-baggage and cargo options depend on the airline, route, species, breed, size and other conditions. Obtain the carrier’s acceptance and exact container rules before purchasing a crate or ticket. The container must suit the pet and allow the required natural standing, turning and resting positions. A product marketed as “IATA approved” is not an IATA certification; final acceptance rests with the airline and applicable regulations.

Should I sedate my pet for the flight?

Routine sedation solely for air travel is discouraged by IATA because of potential adverse effects in transit. Tell the veterinarian about anxiety, breathing problems, medicines and previous travel reactions so the welfare plan can be individualised. Familiarising your pet with its carrier early is useful preparation. Any medicine must be discussed with the treating veterinarian and checked against the carrier’s rules.

Will my pet need quarantine, and can you guarantee entry?

Quarantine and entry decisions are set by the destination authorities and depend on the route and compliance with the current rules. Some destinations require pre-booked quarantine even when preparation is correct. We can help identify the relevant checks and documents, but no clinic can guarantee a government permit, airline acceptance or border release. The written plan should identify the remaining approvals before you confirm transport.

Can you help move a rabbit, bird, tortoise or other exotic pet?

Ask Kings about the exact species and destination before making arrangements. Exotic animals may need different veterinary certificates, wildlife permissions, legal ownership records and carrier approval. CITES-listed species need checks with the national CITES authorities of the departure and destination countries. We first establish what clinical preparation and coordination can be offered for that animal and route.

What happens if the flight date changes?

Tell the coordinating team immediately. A changed date or route can affect examination windows, treatment timing, certificate validity, permit details and airline arrangements. Some steps or charges may need to be repeated. Keep the latest itinerary and ask for a revised checklist before assuming previously prepared documents remain valid.

Why do you ask when I am travelling as well as when my pet is travelling?

Owner and pet travel dates can determine which legal pathway applies. For example, Great Britain applies extra rules when the pet arrives more than five days before or after its owner, and EU non-commercial arrangements also have owner-travel conditions. Tell us about a separate flight, an authorised accompanying person or any intended ownership change before transport is booked.

Can Kings help with special declarations as well as a rabies titre test?

Yes. We coordinate the travel checklist, veterinary preparation and supporting paperwork, including destination-specific declarations and required testing arrangements. We explain which details or signatures must come from you and which certificates require official issue or endorsement. The agreed plan identifies any partner tasks and outstanding authority or airline approvals.

What if my pet’s microchip number or name is different on a document?

Send the full records before the next travel appointment. The team can compare them with the pet’s scanned identity and identify which issuer needs to review or correct the record. Do not overwrite a number, assume a minor spelling difference is acceptable, or rely on an informal explanation at the airport. The correction needed depends on the document and destination requirements.
