How Kings helps join up the journey and appointment
One practical conversation
We help you bring the appointment and transport details together: where your pet is collected, which branch is expecting them and whether a return journey is needed. Both arrangements must be confirmed before collection is treated as booked.
A handover you can prepare for
We clarify the contact people and ask about carriers, restraint and handling needs. These details help you prepare your pet and documents without last-minute uncertainty about who is collecting them or what should travel with them.
Costs and changes made clearer
Ask us to explain what the transport quote covers and how a later collection or changed appointment should be handled. This keeps travel charges separate from treatment decisions unless the agreed estimate specifically includes both.

What to expect
Reception confirms the collection address, destination, time window and transport requirements for your pet.
Treat collection and handover as part of the plan
Give the collection contact, receiving contact and destination branch the same confirmed information. Have your pet ready inside a secure area rather than waiting loose near a road or open entrance. Ask who supplies the carrier or restraint, whether the pet can travel alone, and how the driver identifies the correct animal at handover. For several pets, state their number, species and sizes in advance instead of assuming one booking covers them all.
Prepare for the journey, not only the appointment
Let your pet become familiar with the carrier before travel where time allows. Discuss motion sickness, distress or handling concerns with the veterinary team rather than giving an unprescribed calming product. Confirm a secure restraint arrangement and tell the team about any special transport requirement after treatment. Never leave a pet unattended in a parked vehicle, including during a short collection delay. In warm weather, minimise unnecessary time outdoors and agree a prompt handover.
Keep the return journey flexible around clinical care
An examination or procedure may finish later than expected, so ask how the return collection is confirmed and who receives updates. Send the receiving person any discharge instructions, medicines and follow-up details supplied by the clinic. If the pet needs particular monitoring or handling after treatment, confirm that routine transport is appropriate. A change in the pet’s condition should be discussed with the clinical team; a transport booking does not establish medical fitness to travel.
Before your appointment
Share species, size, carrier needs and access details. Ask about the handover process and whether an accompanying person can travel.
After your visit
Agree the return journey and collection contact before the appointment. Keep your phone available for updates.
Costs & what to ask
Distance, route, timing and return travel affect the quote. Confirm transport charges separately from veterinary care.
Contact your chosen branch for current pricing and availability. Ask what is included in your estimate before confirming treatment.
A clear collection and handover
Provide the number of pets, species, size and any handling or carrier requirements before transport is agreed. Confirm the authorised handover person at each address, the collection window and what to do if access changes. Tell reception about medical or mobility concerns so transport suitability can be discussed before a vehicle is arranged.
Coordinate transport with the appointment
Confirm that the clinic appointment and transport are both agreed; one does not automatically reserve the other. Discuss the return journey, contact person and any collection instructions after treatment. A routine pet taxi is not an emergency ambulance service: telephone the clinic directly if your pet becomes unwell before a planned collection.
Your questions, answered
How do I book pet pick-up and drop-off?
Contact reception with the collection address, destination branch, pet’s species and size, preferred appointment and whether you need a return journey. The team will check route, timing and vehicle availability before agreeing the transport.
Confirm the collection window, handover contact, carrier or restraint requirements and whether an owner can accompany the pet. Keep your phone available for any update. The veterinary appointment and transport should both be confirmed; arranging one does not automatically reserve the other.
What does a pet taxi quote include?
Ask whether the quote is for one-way travel or collection and return, and whether waiting time, distance or an additional stop affects the fee. Veterinary consultations and treatment are separate unless the team explicitly includes them in the agreed amount.
Share accurate addresses and access details so the route can be planned. Check how changes to the appointment, collection time or destination should be handled. A pet taxi is a transport enquiry; if your pet is seriously unwell, call the clinic for emergency advice rather than assuming routine collection is an emergency ambulance service.
How should I prepare my pet and documents for collection?
Follow the team’s transport instructions for your pet’s species and needs. Have the vaccination booklet, relevant records and the contact person’s details ready, and explain any handling difficulty or medical concern when booking.
Confirm who will hand over and receive your pet, the destination and the return arrangement. If the appointment needs preparation such as individual feeding or medicine instructions, obtain those from the veterinary team. The driver’s transport instructions should not be treated as a substitute for the clinician’s advice about the planned examination or procedure.
Can more than one pet travel on the same booking?
Tell reception the number, species, size and handling needs of every pet. Confirm vehicle capacity and separate carrier or restraint arrangements before assuming they can share a journey. Availability and charges must be agreed for the actual booking.
What if my pet is not ready at the expected return time?
Ask how the clinic and transport contact will coordinate changes. Wait for clinical discharge instructions rather than collecting solely to meet the original travel slot. Confirm any revised fee or timing with reception.
